A native self-hosted Algolia alternative for PrestaShop
Algolia is a broader hosted Search and Discovery platform. For PrestaShop, Algolia currently documents no supported prebuilt extension, so the integration route is custom or third-party. NP Search 2.13.4 is narrower: a native self-hosted module for search, merchandising and local analytics. Compare the required job without assuming feature, performance or support equivalence.
→ NP Search: €89 one-time plus optional updates. Algolia Grow and Grow Plus include monthly request and record allowances, then charge published usage overages; use your current account terms and implementation estimate.
This fictional browser-only fixture demonstrates NP Search 2.13.2 controls. It does not connect to the competitor or your store, and it does not prove equivalent scope or performance.
Type a query. Then change the decisions behind the result.
Recover a typo, expand a synonym, apply a facet and move a product with a merchandising rule. The trace explains every simulated decision instead of hiding it behind an AI label.

What this proves
The exact 2.13.4 package contains typo recovery, synonyms, facets, pin / boost / hide workflows and result add-to-cart. This deterministic fixture demonstrates those controls; it is not a latency benchmark or your live catalogue.
The separate store is an integration surface and may lead or lag the commercial package. The version and SHA-256 on the product page identify the file delivered after purchase.
Three ownership decisions a feature grid can hide
Who owns the PrestaShop connector?
Algolia says it does not offer a supported prebuilt PrestaShop extension. Its PHP and frontend libraries can support a custom build, and third-party modules exist, but the connector vendor’s compatibility and support are separate from Algolia support. NP Search is delivered as the PrestaShop module itself.
Broad platform or focused native module?
Algolia documents a wider platform with UI libraries, query suggestions, rules, personalization, dynamic re-ranking, analytics and plan-specific AI capabilities. NP Search does not claim that breadth. It focuses on a PrestaShop-native search path, facets, merchandising controls, local analytics and one bounded Profit Autopilot ranking signal.
Hosted usage model or merchant-operated runtime?
An Algolia implementation sends indexed records and search requests to its hosted service; optional analytics and personalization workflows add event instrumentation. NP Search keeps its catalogue, query, experiment and order telemetry in the merchant’s PrestaShop database. That removes an external search runtime, while making capacity, index refresh, backups and monitoring the merchant’s responsibility.
NP Search — Profit Autopilot vs Algolia
This comparison separates product scope from integration ownership. NP Search commercial scope follows release 2.13.4; the browser fixture and wider compatibility evidence remain labelled predecessor 2.13.2. Algolia facts use public pages checked on 18 July 2026 and can change by plan.
| Capability | NP Search — Profit Autopilot | Algolia |
|---|---|---|
| PrestaShop integration | Native module; exact 2.13.4 package evidence is published | Custom or third-party route; no Algolia-supported prebuilt PrestaShop extension |
| Product scope | PrestaShop search, facets, merchandising and local analytics | Broader hosted platform; capabilities and limits vary by plan |
| Published pricing model | €89 one-time; optional €29 / 6-month updates; no Neuroplugin per-query fee | Grow/Grow Plus include allowances then usage overages; Elevate is custom |
| Search data and runtime | Merchant PrestaShop database and server | Indexed records and requests use the Algolia hosted service |
| Operating responsibility | Merchant owns capacity, index refresh, backups, monitoring and theme tests | Algolia runs the hosted platform; merchant/team still owns connector, data model and storefront integration |
| Evidence boundary | 2.13.4 exact full check on PS 8.2.7/PHP 8.1; exact-package smoke on PS 9.1.4/PHP 8.2 | Public platform documentation; validate your connector and plan separately |
Price the complete implementation, not a hypothetical bill
Algolia Grow currently includes 10,000 monthly search requests and 100,000 records, then lists $0.50 per additional 1,000 requests and $0.40 per additional 1,000 records. Grow Plus lists the same included quantities, then $1.75 and $0.40 respectively. Build is for development and testing, while production uses Grow or Grow Plus; pre-sort copies can increase record count. Amounts are shown in each vendor’s published currency without conversion. Your real cost also depends on plan features, connector, indexing pipeline, frontend, events and support. NP Search adds your own server and operating work. This page therefore provides no savings calculator and makes no ROI, performance, payback or feature-equivalence claim.

Run a reversible integration comparison
- 1
Inventory the integration you actually operate
Record the connector vendor and version, indexed fields, facets, replicas, synonyms, rules, frontend components, event pipeline, personalization, analytics and support owner. NP Search should not be selected for a workflow it does not provide.
- 2
Build a staging acceptance set
Use representative queries, zero-result cases, filters, prices, stock states, customer groups and mobile add-to-cart. Start NP Search with stable ranking and Profit Autopilot disabled; compare outputs and logs without routing production traffic.
- 3
Choose only after acceptance and preserve rollback
Verify scheduled index refresh, theme mounting, analytics, checkout and monitoring. Keep the existing Algolia path intact until the measured staging result meets your written acceptance criteria. No universal migration duration is promised.
- Is NP Search a drop-in replacement for Algolia?
- No. No blanket equivalence is claimed. NP Search 2.13.4 covers a native PrestaShop search layer with typo recovery, synonyms, facets, merchandising, add-to-cart and local analytics. It does not reproduce Algolia’s full APIs, UI-library ecosystem, personalization, recommendations, NeuralSearch, multi-index architecture or plan-specific platform features. Validate every workflow.
- Can Algolia work with PrestaShop?
- Yes, through custom development or a third-party module. Algolia’s official FAQ says it offers PHP and frontend libraries but no supported prebuilt PrestaShop extension. Confirm which party owns connector compatibility, upgrades, storefront code and support before purchasing.
- How should I compare Algolia and NP Search costs?
- Use your current written Algolia terms, measured requests and records, required plan features, replica strategy, connector or development cost, event instrumentation and support. Add NP Search’s licence, optional updates, server capacity and operating work. The public included allowances mean a generic monthly or three-year estimate would be misleading.
- What NP Search 2.13.4 compatibility evidence is current?
- The exact 2.13.4 package passed a full maintainer check on PrestaShop 8.2.7 / PHP 8.1 / Classic and an exact-package smoke on PrestaShop 9.1.4 / PHP 8.2. Wider screenshots, the interactive browser lab and the broader PrestaShop, PHP and theme matrix are retained predecessor 2.13.2 evidence. A custom theme still needs staging and checkout smoke tests.
Choose the integration and operating model you can own
Keep Algolia when its broader platform, hosted runtime, APIs, advanced plan capabilities or an integration your team already owns justify that path. Choose NP Search only when the narrower 2.13.4 boundary fits and your team accepts local capacity, indexing, backups and monitoring. Test on staging and preserve rollback.
